Tamarah got her visa! It was processed by the U.S. Consulate in Port au Prince, yesterday!
I was really impressed by the courteous treatment that I received by the visa staff. They are very pro-adoption and really try hard to make the process the least stressful as possible for the adoptive family. I am not easily impressed, but they impressed me with their professionalism and kindness.
I spoke with Mr. Duffy and he told me that he was sorry that he cannot email individual parents who have emailed him regarding having had their child's adoption file in MOI longer than one month. He just does not have the time. The U.S. Consulate compiled a list of names of U.S. families affected by the wait ("only" about 50 families emailed - I know there were more out there). Ms. Joan Logan, the new chief over the adoptions unit in the U.S. Consulate met with the Director of Political Affairs from MOI last Thursday. She was promised that the MOI staff will work as fast as possible to get the adoption files processed.
